A live recording from 2019 at Twilite Lounge in Salt Lake City, Utah during the most rainy season in recent memory. What started out as just an opportunity for Finale Grand to play a collection of his beats for late nite lounging scene'sters , became an impromptu improvisation of performance art inspired by the theme of "water".

While driving to the show, Finale was wondering to himself what he would do in between beats while his MPC4000 loaded a new session. He came up with the idea to read the poem from "A Love Supreme" by Coltrane, which was in his car. He had a cassette tape boombox in the car that was used earlier that day at a skate session, and a copy of Sonny Simmons obscure fee jazz tape "Global Jungle" as well. He mic'd the boombox and let the tape play during the loading times.

As typical of Finale Grand, he finds away to connect adjacent ideas and create a narrative of supporting concepts. The theme of water was already on his mind due to weather, global warming, economics, and a hobbyist of archaeology and anthropology. Pulling together other interests of film and literature, Finale reads from his phone the opening pages of 2001 A Space Odyssey and The Grapes of Wrath. Tying in themes of survival, observation, evolution, and technology over the free jazz cassette sound bed.

The live set begins to take shape as an album, as well as a dedication to the cultures of earth who observe nature, live symbiotically and respectfully with it, and promote holistic approaches to life and culture. Our planet is changing, people are evolving, and water is becoming the most valuable resource our planet has, or at least we are starting to learn that it always was.

Finale's beats for this performance are a various pallet of styles and source materials from Harumi Hosono, Pharaoh Sanders, Sun Ra, Coltrane, to tribal recordings, electronics, ambient textures, trap drums, and jazzy lo-fi boom bap riffs.
